What to Pack for Gulf Shores and each season— Probably Less Than You Think

Published August 2nd, 2026

A real-life Gulf Shores packing guide for families, couples, glampers, RV travelers, and anyone who would rather vacation than haul half their house south.

Packing for Gulf Shores should not require a cargo trailer.

You need clothes, swimsuits, prescription medications, anything personal you absolutely cannot live without, and your favorite snacks.

The rest?

You may be surprised how much you can leave at home.

At Camp & Glamp Properties, we stock our stays heavily on purpose. Not because we are trying to win some imaginary award for having the most stuff, but because forgetting things is annoying, buying duplicates on vacation is expensive, and dragging half your house to Gulf Shores is nobody’s idea of a relaxing start to a trip.

If you are staying at Resting Beach Face, Shell Yeah!, or Crabby Paddy, there is a very good chance we already have the thing you are about to cram into the car.

So before you pack six beach towels, four chargers, three water bottles, two coolers, and enough toiletries to open a pharmacy...

Don’t.

We probably already thought of it.

First Rule: Come See What Is Here Before You Go Shopping

This may be the single best piece of advice in this entire article.

Come to the property before making your big grocery and supply run.

Get settled.

Open the cabinets.

Check the refrigerator.

Look through the bathrooms.

See what is in the kitchen.

Take a look at the beach gear.

Then decide what you actually need.

We keep a surprising amount of everyday vacation stuff on hand, and guests often discover they need far less than they thought.

You may find kitchen basics, toiletries, cooking supplies, coffee-related items, beach gear, or other useful odds and ends already waiting.

So instead of arriving in Gulf Shores with your vehicle packed like you are relocating permanently, come see what is here first.

Then make one smart shopping trip.

What We Already Provide

At Resting Beach Face, Shell Yeah!, and Crabby Paddy, we provide far more than an empty place to sleep.

Depending on the property, you will find things such as:

  • Beach towels

  • Bath towels

  • Linens and bedding

  • Reusable water bottles

  • Floaties

  • Coolers

  • Electronic chargers

  • Toiletries

  • Extra toiletries

  • Cookware

  • Dishes

  • Glassware

  • Utensils

  • Kitchen appliances

  • Games and cards

  • Comfortable indoor seating

  • Outdoor seating

  • Everyday household basics

And at Resting Beach Face, the beach setup goes even further with gear meant to make family beach days easier.

The goal is simple:

Bring the personal stuff. Let us handle a whole lot of the bulky stuff.

So What DO You Need to Bring?

Your list can be pretty short.

Bring:

  • Clothes

  • Swimsuits

  • Shoes you actually wear

  • Prescription medications

  • Medical supplies specific to you

  • Cosmetics or personal-care products you are particular about

  • Specialty baby items

  • Specialty pet items

  • Anything sentimental or very personal

  • Favorite snacks

  • Favorite drinks

  • Specialty foods

  • Groceries you know your family will want

And remember:

If you can live without it for a couple of hours until you see what is already at the property, consider leaving it home.

That one rule can save a shocking amount of trunk space.

Gulf Shores Weather: What to Pack by Season

One thing about Gulf Shores weather:

It likes to keep you humble.

You can have sunshine, wind, a rain shower, blue skies, and a temperature swing all in the same day.

So while we absolutely recommend packing light, a few seasonal pieces are worth bringing.

The easiest year-round rule?

Bring a sweatshirt or light layer.

Bring an umbrella or lightweight rain jacket.

Those two things do not take up much room, and you will be very happy to have them if the weather changes.

Spring: March, April & May

Typical range: about 70–85°F during the day and 50–65°F at night.

Spring in Gulf Shores is one of those seasons where you may start the morning in a sweatshirt and end up in shorts and flip-flops by lunch.

March tends to be milder. April warms up quickly. By May, Gulf Shores is already leaning hard toward summer.

Pack for spring:

  • Shorts

  • T-shirts

  • Swimsuits

  • Sandals or flip-flops

  • A sweatshirt or light jacket

  • Lightweight pants or leggings

  • Rain jacket or umbrella

  • Sunscreen

  • Sunglasses

  • Hat

Gulf Shores tip: Layers are your friend. A beautiful warm afternoon can turn into a breezy evening once the sun goes down.

And do not let a cloudy spring day fool you.

The sun can still get you.

Summer: June, July & August

Typical range: about 88–93°F during the day and 72–76°F at night.

Summer in Gulf Shores is exactly what you are imagining.

Hot. Humid. Sunny. Beachy.

And every now and then, an afternoon thunderstorm will blow in like it owns the place.

That does not necessarily mean the whole day is ruined. Gulf Coast showers can appear, dump rain, and move along.

Pack for summer:

  • Swimsuits

  • Coverups

  • Shorts

  • Lightweight shirts

  • Sandals and flip-flops

  • Sunscreen

  • Sunglasses

  • Hat

  • Lightweight rain jacket or umbrella

  • One light sweatshirt for restaurants or overly enthusiastic air conditioning

And drink water.

A lot of it.

Fortunately, you do not need to pack reusable water bottles when staying at Resting Beach Face, Shell Yeah!, or Crabby Paddy.

We already have them.

Fall: September, October & November

Typical range: about 70–90°F during the day and 50–75°F at night, depending on the month.

September can still feel very much like summer.

October often brings warm afternoons and more comfortable evenings.

By November, mornings and nights are usually cooler, and you will be more grateful for an extra layer.

Translation:

Do not pack for October in Gulf Shores like you would pack for October up north.

You may still be wearing shorts and flip-flops.

Pack for fall:

  • Swimsuits

  • Shorts

  • T-shirts

  • Sandals

  • Sweatshirt or light jacket

  • Lightweight pants

  • Closed-toe shoes if you prefer them

  • Rain jacket or umbrella

  • Sunscreen

  • Sunglasses

Gulf Shores tip: Fall can be perfect swimsuit-by-day, sweatshirt-by-the-fire-pit-at-night weather.

We consider that a win.

Winter: December, January & February

Typical range: about 60–67°F during the day and 40–50°F at night.

Gulf Shores is warmer than a lot of the country during winter.

But it is not tropical every single day.

You may get beautiful sunny afternoons in the 60s, occasional warmer days, chilly mornings, breezy evenings, and cold snaps that remind you it is still technically winter.

Pack for winter:

  • Jeans or comfortable pants

  • T-shirts

  • Long-sleeve shirts

  • Sweatshirts

  • Light-to-medium jacket

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • A few pairs of shorts for warmer days

  • Swimsuit

  • Rain jacket or umbrella

Winter is also when the fireplaces at Shell Yeah! and Crabby Paddy feel especially good.

Gulf Shores tip: Winter is all about layers. You can be comfortable outside in the afternoon and reaching for a sweatshirt the minute the sun disappears.

Resting Beach Face: The “We Probably Have It” Beach House

If you are staying at Resting Beach Face, you are not walking into an empty house and rebuilding your life for the week.

You are walking into a beach house that is set up to actually function like home.

Resting Beach Face is our three-bedroom, two-bath Gulf Shores beach house that sleeps up to ten, making it a great fit for families, multi-generational trips, friend groups, or two families traveling together.

Inside, you will find:

  • Two king bedrooms

  • Bunk sleeping space

  • Additional flexible sleeping options

  • TVs throughout

  • Fully stocked kitchen

  • Washer and dryer

  • Dedicated office area with a desk, monitor, and printer

  • Comfortable living space

  • Screened patio

  • Outdoor gathering areas

And outside, you have even more room to relax with the fire pit, BBQ area, picnic setup, seating, and nearby community pools.

Then there is the beach.

We have already taken care of a lot of the gear that usually fills half the car.

At Resting Beach Face, you can expect beach-day items such as:

  • Beach towels

  • Beach chairs

  • Wagon

  • Coolers

  • Floaties

  • Beach toys

  • Reusable water bottles

So please do not arrive with your rearview mirror completely blocked by folding chairs and pool noodles.

What should you bring to Resting Beach Face?

Your clothes.

Your prescriptions.

Anything personal you absolutely need.

Favorite foods and beverages.

And groceries after you see what is already there.

That is about it.

Shell Yeah!: Glamping Without Packing Like You Are Camping

Shell Yeah! is our glamorous motorhome, and this is definitely not a roughing-it situation.

Think of it more like a fun little vacation home that happens to be on wheels.

You have:

  • King bedroom

  • 1½ bathrooms

  • Full kitchen

  • Washer and dryer

  • Fireplace

  • Dining table

  • Portable tray tables

  • Comfortable living area

  • Outdoor TV

It is polished, cozy, fully furnished, and surprisingly easy to settle into.

And because we already provide the basics and plenty of extras, you do not need to arrive with plastic bins labeled CAMPING STUFF.

Beach towels?

There.

Chargers?

There.

Reusable water bottles?

There.

Floaties?

There.

Cooler?

There.

Toiletries?

Yep.

The whole point of Shell Yeah! is getting the fun of RV life without having to outfit an RV yourself.

What should you bring?

Clothes, prescriptions, personal must-haves, your favorite snacks and drinks, and whatever groceries you decide you actually need after you arrive.

Then settle in.

Crabby Paddy: Cozy, Stocked, and Ready for You

Crabby Paddy is our cozy glamper built for people who like their camping with significantly more comfort.

Inside you will find:

  • Queen bedroom

  • Fold-out sofa

  • Full bathroom

  • Island kitchen

  • Fireplace

  • Massaging recliners

  • Table that converts into a desk

  • Comfortable living space

Then you step outside to an extra-large area with room to relax, grill, gather around the fire pits, sit in the Adirondack chairs, eat at the picnic table, and do absolutely nothing productive.

Just like Resting Beach Face and Shell Yeah!, Crabby Paddy is stocked with the things people typically forget, buy again, or hate hauling.

Beach towels.

Chargers.

Reusable water bottles.

Floaties.

Coolers.

Toiletries.

Linens.

Kitchen basics.

And plenty of other useful extras.

Crabby Paddy packing tip:

Bring soft-sided luggage if you can.

It stores easier, takes up less space, and does not sit in the middle of the glamper staring at you all week.

Beachy Keen: Bring Your RV and Your Own Setup

Beachy Keen is different.

This is our bring-your-own-RV pad, so naturally you will bring the supplies and household setup that normally travel inside your own rig.

You bring:

  • Your RV

  • Hookup cords

  • Hoses

  • Leveling gear

  • Chocks

  • Your normal linens

  • Your kitchen setup

  • Your toiletries

  • Your household basics

  • Whatever makes your personal RV feel like home

Then Beachy Keen gives you the Gulf Shores setting, a cement pad, outdoor space, and access to resort amenities such as the pool, playground, dog park, and laundry facilities.

So yes — Beachy Keen requires more packing than our furnished stays.

But if you already travel by RV, you probably have your system down anyway.

Grocery Shopping: Wait Until You See What You Need

This deserves its own section because people waste a lot of money here.

We recommend checking in and looking around before doing your big grocery run.

See what is already in the kitchen.

See what supplies are on hand.

Then make your list.

For most guests, the grocery trip ends up being more about:

  • Breakfast foods

  • Lunch ingredients

  • Dinner ingredients

  • Favorite snacks

  • Drinks

  • Specialty coffee or creamer

  • Kid favorites

  • Dietary-specific items

  • Whatever your family simply will not vacation without

You do not need to buy household supplies simply because you assume they will not be there.

Check first.

Your wallet will thank you.

Things People Really Do Forget When Coming to Gulf Shores

There are still a few things worth remembering.

Prescription medications

This is the one category we cannot magically fix with an extra cabinet.

Bring them.

Bring enough for the entire stay.

Specialty personal products

If you need one particular brand of skincare, shampoo, contact solution, baby formula, medical product, or anything else you cannot easily substitute, bring it.

We have plenty of toiletries.

But we cannot promise we have your exact favorite thing.

Sunscreen

Yes, Gulf Shores really is sunny enough that this deserves mentioning multiple times.

Bring a brand you like and use it.

Often.

Bug spray

Especially if you plan to sit outside in the evening.

Mosquitoes also enjoy Gulf Shores.

They are incredibly rude about it.

One rain option

Umbrella.

Rain jacket.

Pick one.

Gulf Coast weather changes quickly, and being prepared beats sitting inside dramatically staring at the sky.

One sweatshirt

Even in summer.

Restaurants and air conditioning can be downright disrespectful.

If You Are Traveling With Kids

You definitely do not need to bring all of childhood with you.

Bring the few things your child truly cares about:

  • Favorite stuffed animal

  • Special blanket

  • Favorite bedtime item

  • Prescription medicine

  • Specialty feeding items

  • Anything that prevents an avoidable bedtime crisis

We already provide plenty of the vacation stuff.

At Resting Beach Face especially, families will find a lot of kid-friendly and beach-friendly gear ready to go.

The goal is to keep family vacation from beginning with three hours of unloading.

If You Are Bringing a Pet

For pet-friendly stays, bring the things specific to your pet:

  • Food

  • Medications

  • Favorite bed or blanket

  • Leash

  • Harness

  • Crate if your pet uses one

  • Anything that helps them settle into a new place

Do not assume your dog is going to suddenly embrace minimalism just because you did.

The Real Gulf Shores Packing List

After all of that, here is the list that really matters:

Bring your clothes.

Bring your prescriptions.

Bring anything personal you cannot live without.

Bring specialty kid, pet, medical, or beauty products.

Bring one sweatshirt.

Bring one rain option.

Bring sunscreen.

Bring groceries after you see what is already at the property.

That is pretty much it.

If you are staying at Resting Beach Face, Shell Yeah!, or Crabby Paddy, you can leave a surprising amount behind.

No beach towel mountain.

No cooler convoy.

No pile of reusable bottles.

No charger bag.

No giant toiletry tote.

No kitchen moving boxes.

No floatie collection taking over the back seat.

We have already handled a whole lot of that.

Pack Less. Vacation Faster.

That is really what all of this comes down to.

A vacation should not start with two hours of unloading, organizing, making beds, finding outlets, locating towels, assembling beach equipment, and realizing you bought something we already had sitting in a cabinet.

We stock Resting Beach Face, Shell Yeah!, and Crabby Paddy the way we do because we want you to arrive and start enjoying Gulf Shores.

Not setting up housekeeping.

Come in.

Look around.

See what is here.

Make your grocery list.

Put on your swimsuit.

And go have a vacation.

Bring the people. Bring the personal stuff. Bring the groceries you actually need.

We’ve got a whole lot of the rest.
